Yes, in open court
Notes:
The ADA Matt Rupp informed Judge Bridges that members of Court Watch were present and the Judge asked us what our interest was in this case. The president of the Winterfield Neighborhood Association said that they are doing everything we can to make our neighborhood safe; we work closely with our community police officers and have an active Crime Watch program. Burner Drive is where the Winterfield Apartments are located, and the only thing that separates the apartments from Ms. Langevin’s and her neighbors’ yards is a chain-link fence. Ms.Langevin also informed Judge Bridges that the Winterfield Elementary School is located at the end of Winterfield Place, a short distance from Burner Drive. Judge Bridges asked Ms.Langevin what she would like for him to do with regard to Mr. Helms’ sentencing. She responded that she would like Mr. Helms to not be allowed to come into the Eastway/Sheffield and Winterfield neighborhoods (Th e school is adjacent to both these neighborhoods.) After some discussion, the suggested area was deemed too large so it was narrowed to Winterfield Place and Burner Drive located in the Winterfield Neighborhood.
Christopher Helms is a Record Level 1 with no prior convictions. He had 181 days’ credit in jail. He was to pay $364 of court costs.
